Our Driveway Friend :)

While walking around the property yesterday, cameras in hand, my daughter and I came upon a very interesting snow embankment in the driveway......
It only took us a moment to get an idea and the climbing began!
A few minutes later, VOILA! The Family Snow Monster is born!
Now when we are out back we will see this type of smiling face......
and when we go out front, our new friend will make us smile and chuckle!

Snow......where do I put you now???

A snow plow + a bobcat truck vs the snow banks in my driveway = a victory for the plow and bobcat! We are officially ready for the next storm this week
(though if Mother Nature would like to skip us, there would be no complaints from the humans in this house :)

.....and no day is complete without a trip out back to smile and laugh at the silliness of the 3 Sibes.........
Today was a rare day and we actually got them to sit still long enough to be in a picture appearing as well behaved dogs!

But, not for very long, of course!!!
I think that Apollo in this picture best sums up my feelings towards this Winter....so take THAT, Mother Nature!!! LOL

The Snowiest Winter I Ever Remember :)

Having lived in the Northeast for my entire childhood and a major portion of my adult years, NEVER have I seen a Winter such as we are having here this year! When a forecast calls for 7 to 9" and you think "Is that ALL?", you KNOW that you have been being slammed by Mother Nature!

I do not know why Mother Nature seems to be angry at the Northeast, but I DO know that even though I am quite tired of snowstorms, there are three Siberians in my house that anxiously watch out the door as yet another snowstorm brews, with their tails wagging, big smiles on their faces and dreams

of romping in the freshly fallen snow overtaking their minds. If not for their smiling faces this Winter I am quite certain that I would have run screaming out my door and not stopped until I reached a warm stretch of ocean lined with warm sand that burns your feet. I have spent the Winter thinking of things that I should own before NEXT Winter, and the more snow we get, the more silly my list becomes.

With how much snow we have amassed on our property, we are up to having a bulldozer delivered so that a friend can begin moving snow embankments to make room for plowing the next storm(s).....I know that when I listened to the news the other night and the newsman pointed out the the Winter

was ALMOST 1/2 over and that the Northeast historically gets the bulk of its snow in the SECOND half of the Winter, I began laughing SO hard, that anyone within range was probably convinced that I had finally completely lost my mind :) With close to 5 feet of snow on my 2.5 acres, I am not sure if it is possible to have more snow in the second half than the first half, but I DO know that I am happy that I have a two story home JUST in case!!

The Sibes Got Their Wish and THEN SOME!!!

On Wednesday night I went to be thinking that we were going to escape the brunt of the storm and that the Sibes were NOT getting their wish of 12 inches of snow as forecast since the only fresh snow on the ground was the 4 inches that had unexpectedly fallen in the morning hours :)
Alas, I was mistaken. I woke up a little before 5:30am on Thursday to the sound of a message on my Blackberry.... "School is Cancelled."
Hmmm I thought, how much snow fell while I was sleeping? I came downstairs and turned on the outside lights.....rubbed my eyes as I thought that I MUST still be dreaming! The snow was up so high on the back door that I could only push it open about 6" ! Wow, did we have HAPPY Sibes when they woke up to play in the more than 18 inches of freshly fallen snow yesterday! I must admit that I was not too happy to see this new snow on top of the already amassed 3+ feet that Mother Nature has already left in her trails for us. The shoveling began.....and went on and on throughout the day.
The only thing that kept us all smiling and laughing was the sheer look of bliss on the faces of Apollo, Athena and Zeus :)

Siberian Paradise, again...

Gee....Happy Days.....Snow is on the way, AGAIN!

I was hoping that if I did not watch the forecast that it would mean that the snow that is headed our way (again) would stay away....I have tried everything else this Winter and nothing worked, soI figured it was worth a shot :) Alas, we are sitting here with a forecast of 6-12" starting later today......

I am told that the 3 Sibes have placed their wish for it to be 12", but there are more humans than Sibes in this house at the moment and we are overriding them and voting for 6" or less (preferably less) We humans also have the 7 reptiles and amphibians votes on this so we REALLY hope to win this wishing contest this time!! Time will tell :) Snow shovels are at the ready position, firewood is in the house, groceries are stocked, so bring it on Mother Nature! We are READY for you (again) ... I still think she should share the pleasure and send these snowstorms elsewhere to those that are without snow, but, yet again, Mother Nature appears to LOVE the Northeast A WHOLE LOT this Winter and keeps giving us her "presents" ...... Dear Mother Nature, PLEASE give "your gifts(?) to someone else next time!!! hehehehe

Yet another 2 Hour School Delayed Start.........

Alarm rings.....crawl downstairs......make coffee.......turn on outside light......freshly fallen snow EVERYWHERE.....not too much, but just enough to make it necessary to pull out the snow shovels and cause a 2 hour delay for school........abandoned snow shovels and happy Sibes :)
IMPORTANT UPDATE: We ended the morning with 4.5" of "flurries" with a 3 hour delay to the start of school......it was WELL after that when we were able to get out of here!! At least my son made it to ONE of his Midterms today!!

My Thermometer MUST be broken! :)

The temperature this morning is -9 degrees. That would be OK if we were with the rest of the world and using Celsius to measure our temperature.....alas we are not.......

Even I will NOT be venturing out to play with the Sibes until the temperature gets to our forecasted high of 11 degrees later today.....until such time as Mother Nature decides that perhaps she will give the Northeast a break, I will simply look at the joyous faces of my Sibes through my lens while they enjoy this Winter Wonderland........

A Method to the Madness......

One man's Purgatory is another man's Paradise......
This Winter has been described more often as "Purgatory" by most in the NorthEast.....I choose to watch the Winter through the eyes of my 3 Siberian Huskies as this has been their personal PARADISE :) Focusing on the never ending shoveling and plowing and ice chipping makes it appear to be a "Winter from Hell" , while looking into the souls of my Sibes through my lens truly makes this a "Winter from Heaven."
